MSU's Thermal Stress Program is designed to protect employees from injury due to working in extreme hot or cold temperatures. No specific Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standard for heat stress exists; however, the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have promulgated recommended safety guidelines for working in hot environments.
