The US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) has banned commercial and industrial uses of dichloromethane (also known as DCM, or methylene chloride, CAS #75-09-2). In addition, stringent restrictions for its use in research facilities will be required by May 1, 2025.
In advance of the May 1, 2025 compliance deadline, the Office of Research and Innovation has prepared a survey to better understand your group’s use of DCM. Please fill out the survey (link below) regarding dichloromethane by November 22, 2024, for laboratories in which you are either the Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator. Only one survey per research group is necessary – multiple submissions will be collated by PI/Research Group.
Please share the link to the survey broadly within your unit/department, particularly if the email distribution list has inadvertently missed users of dichloromethane in your department.
