She will also be highly involved with the Aircuity smart-lab, demand control ventilation system and laboratory control banding. Melissa will be involved with sustainability aspects of laboratory ventilation as it relates to the level of hazard in the research space. As part of the Chemical Safety Team, she will become fluent in the operation of all direct readout gas detection equipment used for emergencies and field investigations.
Elyssa is joining us from the Saha Lab, A BSL-2 lab, at Institute for Quantitative Health Science and Engineering where she was Lab Manager and Research Assistant responsible for safety compliance, setup and maintenance for desert locust and honeybee colonies.
Melissa has a Masters in Biological Sciences from Eastern New Mexico University and a BS in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.
